Akin
Tony Pierce is the partner in charge of Akin’s Washington, D.C. office. A trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, Tony is a problem-solver, an aggressive advocate for clients and a valued counsel on business strategy and practical legal advice. His clients span an array of industries. In his litigation practice, Tony has defended large class actions and complex commercial disputes involving breach of contract, consumer protection, data privacy, trade secrets, product liability, intellectual property and high-level employment claims. He also has conducted numerous internal investigations.
An experienced leader of influential business organizations in the Capital Region, Tony is a founding member and serves on the executive committee of the Greater Washington Partnership. He is the past chair of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, where he serves as a member of the Senior Council with other past chairs. He is also the general counsel of The Economic Club of Washington, D.C. and a member of the Federal City Council.
Throughout his career, Tony has been an active force in legal services organizations, including the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, for which he received the Servant of Justice Award in 2019. Additionally, Tony has mentored countless lawyers and professionals at Akin and throughout his civic involvement. He has received numerous awards for his professional and community engagement.
